Description

Gua Sha, is a traditional Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising. Gua Sha involves repeated pressured strokes over lubricated skin with a smooth edged instrument. The skin is typically lubricated with a massage oil and a scraper such as honed animal bones, animal horns, or stone is used. These scrapers can also be used for Bian stone therapy. The Bian-stone technique, which is one of humanties oldest medical practices, refers to the use of stone-based equipment to perform massaging, healing and other operations.

These Gua Sha scrapers, are hand carved by myself from African Wonderstone (Pyrophyllite), and provide tremendous natural and metaphysical properties, quite comparable to Bian Stone (see About the Stone). I have added my own artisan design touch to bring some art flair to these pieces, by introducing insets of White Alabaster crystal and Colored Soapstone, which bring additional properties to the creation. Round insets can be provided in one or three insets, keeping with Chinese reference to these numbers significance. Stones come with a black velvet storage bag and suede cord wrist strap to aid in handling use.

These are hand carved by myself in my studio in Canada and finished naturally. Each piece is sanded to a high smoothness, and finished with a natural 100% melted bee wax as a polish. Approx. dimensions: 4.5 inch length x 2.5 inch width (115 mm x 64 mm).

Artisan certificate of authenticity is included with each.
